Kick starting your day with a smoothie is one of the best things you can do for yourself and it only takes a few minutes to throw it all in the blender, whizz it up, pour and enjoy!
Step one: An ultra-good blender
My all time favourite is the Vitamix. (RRP £649.99 from John Lewis). I know I know this blender is a little pricey. What the heck it’s very pricey! But don’t panic (if it’s not too late). There are plenty of cheaper options available such as Nutribullet that can create the perfect tasting smoothie. After all healthy eating is all about tasting great right? The minute it doesn’t taste good, those bad cravings kick in followed by that dreaded yet satisfying binge! I find spending a little more on a decent-sized durable blender is a good investment, as it will produce a more tastier end result.
My Vitamix is not just limited to breakfast smoothies. I use it to make meals too. Lunchtime soups turn out pretty good and homemade ice cream/mousse for dessert always goes down well. The list really is endless!
For those who don’t need to make such large quantities, a Nutribullet is perfect! Getting up for my university dental lectures was never enjoyable, but the Nutribullet made my mornings that little bit easier. Not to mention the perfect size for one.
Step two: My ultra-healthy recipe
My typical morning smoothie includes:
  • ½ carrot
  • 1/2 small beetroot
  • ½ celery stick
  • ½ tomato / 3 baby tomatoes
  • avocado peeled
  • Few small slices of pineapple
  • Ginger, Lemon/Lime
  • 500ml coconut water

This smoothie is packed with amazing vitamins and minerals and is liquid gold first thing in the morning! It really does boost energy levels first thing to kick start your day. Drinking it consistently can help to prevent fatigue (given your fatigue is nutrient-based).
Step 3: Drink up!
Blend, blend, blend and enjoy! This takes me a good 5 minutes to drink; it’s thick but will keep me going till mid morning time.
