If I had to describe coconut oil in one word, PERFECT comes to mind! It’s an all rounder. A great super food in the kitchen; a great conditioner for your hair, a natural moisturizer, a great makeup remover, the list goes on!
Coconut oil makes an awesome hair mask and really helps to combat a dry scalp. I try to apply it overnight at least once a week. Here is how I make my homemade coconut hair mask
Make it up:
2 parts warmed coconut oil + ½ part caster oil = BYE dandruff and dry scalp!
To wash it, of course I use coconut oil shampoo. I use only Dr Organics shampoos, from Holland & Barrett. These products are amazing. I’m all about all natural products and this really does the trick. Free from SLS and rich with all natural ingredients. I love it and highly recommend it.
When I’m out and about I apply heavy eye makeup; a good Smokey eye is my signature. Using conventional makeup wipes can be very dehydrating for your skin and can lead to premature aging. I use 1 teaspoon of coconut oil on some cotton wool roll and it off my makeup comes. Quite embarrassing when my friends ask for a makeup wipe and I hand them a bowl of oil and a cotton pad but this has been the best makeup remover I have ever used! It also moisturizes eyelashes to prevent them from falling out, which used to happen when I was tugging at them with a face wipe.
At home, one of the oils I use in my food and baking is coconut oil. It has so many health benefits. Although high in fats, fats are an essential part of a healthy and balanced diet. Coconut oil has a high proportion of a type of fat called Medium Chain Fatty Acids, which are less likely to be stored in the body as fat (thank goodness!) and more readily used as a source of energy. Coconut oil is packed with healthy saturated fats, which may increase “good” HDL cholesterol in your body.
Including all the health benefits, it tastes delicious!
Happy coconutting everyone!
